JPG (JPEG) is a lossy format designed for photographs. It does not support transparency but produces very small files and is supported by virtually every browser, camera, and image editor.
JPG produces small files for photographs and is supported everywhere. If you have a HEIC photo, converting to JPG can dramatically reduce file size.
JPG does not support transparency. When converting from a format that has an alpha channel, transparent pixels are flattened onto a background color (white by default, configurable in Advanced options).
